At the age of twenty, newly orphaned Samantha finds herself being whisked off to live with her father's brother and his step-son on a distant ranch. Having never been refused anything before, she makes a bad choice where riding is concerned and riles cousin Grant who deals with her in an unaccustomed way. Despite beginning to settle down in the much loved Wyoming ranch, Samantha is still uneasy and determined to return to her old life in New York. The long train journey allows Grant not only to follow but to overtake her. Despite the inevitable retribution, she is more than happy to promise to return - and all that remains is to plan the wedding!
