In this loose parody of The Wicker Man, PC Julie Storey accepts a secondment to a beautiful island called Elysium where she finds to her surprise that corporal punishment is a way of life, and the locals are involved in some very unusual pagan customs. She is taken on a tour of the island and it isn't very long before she gives the first of many canings which she finds very arousing. The island elders approve of her and allow her to attend the solstice ceremony, an event not usually witnessed by outsiders. When the day arrives, Julie learns that she has a greater part to play than she had ever imagined, because of her likeness to Rhiannon, the ruler's eldest daughter over 300 years ago. Julie is the centrepiece of the ceremony and takes her caning well, even though it is both prolonged and painful. She is later bestowed with the title of Freeman of the Island and in time becomes the Chief of Police of Elysium, where she remains with her new husband.
