Lacing College is a boys' school, steeped in history and tradition. Its Headmaster, the eccentric Dr Francis, upholds one particular tradition with exceptional rigour - that of corporal punishment, and his prowess with the cane is legendary. Imagine then the shock when he announces he has decided, as an experiment, to admit girls to the sixth form as soon as possible! And not only girls - three female teachers have also been appointed. The year is 1969, and the school is in uproar at this news. When the girls arrive, they find they too are subject to discipline. In this establishment, it seems everyone gets whacked: Matron gives boys and girls alike a hefty dose of slipper and bath brush; and the boys are now punished by the three new female teachers as well as male members of staff. A trio of girls find themselves at the mercy of the Headmaster's cane, and much to their horror, the female teachers are reduced to the status of blubbering punished schoolgirls when a group of sixth form boys out for revenge take matters into their own hands. There are scorched bottoms galore at Lacing College, culminating in a public birching of the former prefects and Head Boy who have taken great pleasure in their regime of bullying. Such is life at Lacing College, a prestigious seat of learning where after centuries of stuffy masculinity, girls are here to stay!
