Raised by a single mom, 17-year-old Megan's life is turned upside down when her biological father turns up out of the blue, having never been aware of Megan's existence. Romance is rekindled between Joe Lancaster and Megan's mom, and they subsequently marry and move to a new town, where Joe takes up a new job as chief of police. Megan has a great deal of adjusting to do, and is initially hostile to Joe, particularly to his way of life as head of household in a domestic discipline marriage. Much to Megan's horror, she too is to get spanked as well as her mother. Megan's new school has a policy of enforcing strict corporal punishment, and punished at school means punished at home too. This arrangement continues when Megan goes to college, and even with the best of intentions, finds herself on the receiving end of the principal's paddle. But Megan has the maturity to realise she deserves most of her punishments, and begins to settle down, make friends and enjoy her new life and extended family. There is one male friend in particular who is set to take Megan in yet another, mutually fulfilling direction...
