Cally is eighteen, a budding artist about to start a university course in a city far from home, a girl excited at the prospect of being independent. However, as she can't afford an apartment of her own, she has arranged to stay with Aunt Sarah, who runs an upmarket bed and breakfast. On arriving at the B&B, Cally is surprised and a little shocked to hear the sounds of a spanking, and tiptoes up stairs to witness a young woman getting her bottom smacked. She quickly learns that Aunt Sarah's rules are to be obeyed; her aunt is old-fashioned and believes in the application of a firm hand (or wooden spoon or slipper) as appropriate modes of discipline for disobedient girls. Cally recognises her aunt cares about every one of her girls, and though spankings are dispensed, they are followed by hugs, tea and biscuits.
