This book contains the following fictional stories depicting the corporal punishment of schoolgirls:

A Daughter's Caning: Misbehaviour on a coach trip involving alcohol, cigarettes and fighting, leads to 15 school girls being punished in front of their parents. Those girls who were not wearing the correct school uniform received extra strokes of the cane. The narrator, whose daughter is one of those caned, describes the scene as it unfolds, and explains how Wendy's behaviour improved, and how he realised the value of corporal punishment. Wendy's dad accepts he hasn't been strict enough in bringing up his daughter, and resolves to give her a taste of the slipper when she misbehaves at home.

Carol Gets the Cane: Carol and Suzanne are caught cheating and are sent to the Headmistress for punishment. Carol finds a caning on the hands horribly painful and wishes that they had been punished like the boys were at her brother's school - on the bottom, but over clothes.

Claire Gets the Cane: Claire is normally a well behaved girl, but when a member of the public catches her throwing her uneaten sandwiches in her garden, attracting vermin, she calls the school. The headmistress, Mrs Coldrey, considers the offence serious enough to warrant a caning and gives Claire four strokes on the hands, plus lines and a detention.

Karen Gets the Cane: Karen, normally well-behaved, loses her Maths homework book and steals one from her classmate, Mandy, who is later slippered as punishment for the loss of her book. Unfortunately Karen's lost text book is discovered by the teacher, and not only has she earned a herself a painful caning on her bottom, she has to apologise to Mandy who is to watch her receive six hard whacks with the slipper.

Just Another Day for Miss Pemberton: Vanessa chooses a detention over a slippering. Her friends pressurize her to change her mind as she is needed for the netball game. When she goes back to Miss Pemberton, the headmistress at first refuses, but then relents. However, the punishment is to be increased because of her changing her mind. Vanessa has to witness other girls being caned and slippered, and even assist in holding a younger girl down. When her turn comes to be punished, she is unable to stay in place, and has to be held down by the gym mistress.

Susan's Strapping: Susan Jennings is rarely in trouble at school, but one day she accidentally bumps into one of her teachers whilst running in the hall. Expecting a few strokes with the ruler, the penalty is more than anyone might have expected and she determines to extract revenge. Foolishly she 'interferes' with a teacher's chair so that it will collapse when sat upon. Unfortunately for Susan, she is discovered as the culprit, leading to a severe punishment expertly delivered by the headmistress.
