At the age of 23, journalist Genevieve Watson finds herself living in a shabby apartment, the best she can get with her low paid job. So when her boss offers her an undercover assignment at the Albright Academy, an all girls' boarding school, she goes for it, hoping it will improve her career prospects. Looking younger than her actual age, she can pass as a 17-year-old student by the name of Tracy Baker, but she isn't fully prepared for the school's fearsome teachers and strict disciplinary regime. One night she sneaks into the Headmistress' study to look for incriminatory 'evidence' which will make a good story; but unfortunately she is caught and punished on her bare bottom with the infamous Albright Strap. Furthermore, as she has behaved in a juvenile manner, she is to be treated accordingly, and is transferred to Albright Junior High to join a class of 14-year-old girls. Though she confesses she is is an undercover reporter, she isn't believed, and the charade continues.

Genevieve gradually fades into oblivion as Tracy comes into her own, slowly acclimatizing to her new way of life as a younger teen. She is spanked, paddled and caned by the whack-happy teaching staff, but life is good despite the corporal punishment; she enjoys the camaraderie and makes friends, and best of all, she is adopted by a new mummy, who is keen to ensure her charge remains at Junior High for many years to come. Thus Tracy enjoys her new life, and relishes the exciting prospect of going home to her new family for the school holidays...
