When her parents go to work abroad, the rebellious Sandra who has failed her A-level exams, is sent to stay with her godmother, Aunt Ruby. Aunt Ruby is a sturdy lady with big, heavy hands and an even bigger, heavier slipper... which she uses to good effect on deserving bottoms. It is not long before Sandra feels the full force of that slipper on her own bare bottom. A wooden spoon is also used to good effect, and proves just as motivational as the slipper. As time passes, Sandra, much to her surprise, settles down, makes friends, applies herself to her studies, and finds she both likes and respects Aunt Ruby.
