THE SPANKING OF TWO TEXAS GIRLS

by John Chard

Part 1

Heather pushed the accelerator pedal closer to the floor and made the tires squeal as she whipped around the corner onto the small college town's main drag.

"Can't this thing go any faster?" her friend Ashley asked, from her place in the shotgun seat. "If we're late to work again Lily will kill us."

"We wouldn't be late if you hadn't lost the car keys, again!"

"Well, I forgot they were still in my pocket when I changed."

"Lucky for you I thought to look in the laundry hamper."

"Oh, just shut up and drive."

The bickering was nothing new. They had been friends for years and were as close as sisters, even more so since they'd been sharing an apartment while going to college in their native Texas.

They were a cute pair, petite except for their exceptionally round bottoms. The boys at school had actually taken to calling them the bubble butt twins.

At exactly 2.59, Heather swung the car into the parking lot at Lily's Flower and Seed Emporium, where they had both found work after school and on weekends. Like most college kids, they'd been living a hand-to-mouth existence and the money they made working at Lily's was a godsend.

They jumped from the car and rushed through the front door just as the clock read 3:00. As expected, Lily was glaring at them from behind the counter.

"Cutting it mighty close, aren't you?" she said.

Heather gave her boss a sheepish grin. "Yes, ma'am, but our shift didn't start till 3:00 and we are here."

Lily continued to glare. "Just barely, you're here. Honestly, I'd think two grown girls in college could get themselves organized well enough to get to work on time without having to drive like maniacs. Instead, you come screeching into the parking lot at the last minute in a cloud of dust every day."

"We're sorry ma'am," Ashley said. "It was my fault. I kind of lost the car keys."

"We'll do better," Heather promised.

"You'd better if you want to keep working here. You two are on thin ice with me as is. Heather, you get behind the register and Ashley, a new shipment of seeds came in. Organize the packets and get them into the right bins. I have a bunch of orders from the web site to get ready, so I'll be in back. Don't bother me unless it's an emergency."

"Yes, ma'am," they answered in unison. As they rushed past their irritated boss on the way to their assigned tasks, she gave them each a little swat on the seat of their jeans to hurry them along.

As Heather took her place behind the register, she gave her freshly stung cheek a little rub. Lily was a big, strong gal and even her playful swats packed a wallop. Not that Heather was any stranger to having her bottom whacked. Her mother had taken a paddle to her plump, young bottom cheeks when she needed it and continued to do so right through high school.

Finally escaping those maternal spankings had been one of her great motivations in going away to college, but now, thinking on how perpetually disorganized she and Ashley always seemed to be, she had to ruefully admit to herself that maybe they could both do with a little firm-handed guidance.

As it was, Lily was the only person she'd met since leaving home who had held her to a firm set of standards. She expected you to be on time and give a hundred percent every day. Even so, she was a good boss, firm but fair, and she paid a good wage. She didn't mind some lively girl talk either when things were slow in the shop. She'd learned that Lily had led quite an interesting life.

She'd left home at seventeen, hooked up with a biker and ridden with a gang for two years. She'd spent a year following the Grateful Dead and she'd even spent a few years knocking around south of the border. Once she'd finished sowing her wild oats, she'd settled down again, reconnected with her Baptist roots, married and raised two daughters. Her husband had died a few years ago and her daughters had gone off on their own, leaving her with little to do now but concentrate on her business.

Heather sighed, thinking how fun it must be to go off and have wild adventures like that. She still wasn't sure what she wanted to do after college.

One by one she tended to the handful of customers, until only one woman remained. She looked like a browser. They came in sometimes and wondered around but never bought anything. She supposed maybe some of them were just killing time.

"Arrrg, sorting seeds is so boring," Ashley said.

Heather frowned at her friend. "Would you rather be flipping burgers?"

"No, but can't you talk to me or something? Haven't you heard any good gossip lately?"

The question jogged her memory. She did have some gossip and it was juicy. "Yes, actually I do."

"Well, what is it?"

"Did you hear about Kelly and the psych professor?"

"Kelly and Professor Hinckley? What about them?"

Heather glanced at the lone female customer who was still wandering around the shop. "I can't shout it across the shop. We still have a customer."

"Why, is it dirty?"

"Yes," Heather said with a giggle.

"Oh my God," Ashley said. "You have to tell me right now!"

"I can't."

A shelf full of terracotta pots separated her from Ashley. If she went around it to talk to her she wouldn't be able to see the register, and Lily had always warned them not to leave the register unattended.

"Lily's still in back," Ashley insisted. "Come on, just tell me real quick. You can give me the details later."

Heather gave a glance to their lone customer. "No, you come over here."

They weren't supposed to leave the register when there were customers in the shop.

"I can't. I have to finish sorting these seeds. Lily would kill me if she saw me yakking with you before I got this done."

Heather thought about it for a minute. The lone female customer was still wandering around the store. She didn't look like she'd be buying anything any time soon so, against her better judgment, she threw caution to the wind and ducked around the pots to the seed bins where Ashley was working.

"Okay, give," said Ashley.

"Well," Heather started, "Jenny said she had an appointment with Professor Hinckley at 1:00 to discuss her paper. She got to his office a little early and knocked on the door. Hinckley yells for her to wait outside because he's with another student. Well, a few minutes later the door opens and Kelly comes out with this big hicky on her neck that she's trying to hide with her hand and the prof's shirt is buttoned wrong, like he did it in a big hurry."

Ashley put a hand to her mouth. "Oh my God! He's married too. Do you think they're having an affair?"

"Wait," Heather said. "What was that?"

"What?"

"I thought I just heard the register open."

"Lily's still in back," said Ashley.

They both ran around to the register. "Where's that lady?" Heather asked.

Ashley's face went white. "Quick, check the register."

Heather hit some keys and the cash drawer opened. She was relieved to see the money was still there, but then she looked under the cash tray where they kept the big bills.

"Oh shit!" she said.

"What?"

"There were two fifties in there. That lady must have taken them."

"Oh god, oh god!" said Ashley, almost hyperventilating. "A hundred dollars. Lily's going to kill us!"

"If we're lucky, she'll kill us," agreed Heather. "I'm betting she'll think of something worse!"

As if on cue, they heard Lily's heavy footsteps approaching from the back of the shop.

"What on earth is going on up here?" she asked.

Heather swallowed hard and tried to formulate an answer.

Lily stood there expectantly, all five foot ten of her, arms crossed over her buxom chest, green eyes boring into her hapless subordinates.

"I expect an answer, girls. It's pretty damn obvious you've been up to something."

Heather cleared her throat and forced herself to speak. "Uh, something happened."

"Something bad," Ashley added.

Lily continued to glare. "What? Out with it."
