Helen's Domestic Discipline is made up of a series of stories, chiefly concerning the scatterbrained but likeable Helen and her boyfriend Danny - who later becomes her husband. Helen's faults (of which there are many) and foolish ways invariably lead her into all sorts of trouble. In addition to running up huge telephone bills, gambling and telling lies to Danny, her mishaps also involve a bonfire that gets out of control, burning the dinner, and failing to correctly label the contents of the freezer bags. Such behaviour invariably leads to a very sore bottom when Danny's patience runs out. Luckily, he is a man with a sense of humour, and there is a fun side to their relationship too, with plenty of laughter and loving in the bedroom.

Their friends Paul and Maggie and Martin and June also believe in the benefits of a domestic discipline marriage. It is not only Helen who gets her bottom warmed - Maggie and June also share the experience!
