The year is 1888, and pretty Marisa Waters has obtained a school teacher position in the town of Bitter Creek, in the Wyoming territory. Travelling the last 250 miles of her long journey by stagecoach, she makes less than a favourable impression with the driver, and her temper is frayed when she finally reaches her destination only to find the hotel does not have a room for her. It is the handsome Marshal, Cole Cooper, who comes to her rescue by offering her his spare room. Although clearly taken by the Marshal's charm and good looks, it isn't long before Marisa gets on the wrong side of him by complaining, sassing and foot-stomping when she can't get her own way. The Marshal is a tolerant man, but he can only take so much ... and he soon turns Marisa over his knee for a good old-fashioned spanking. However, passions flare as sparks fly, and Marisa and Cole become even more intimately acquainted.

As time goes by, Marisa continues with her little outbursts and fault finding, annoying several of the townsfolk in the process. There is only one man who can tame the sassy schoolmarm ... and he does it so well!
