Company Rules: Laura was well aware of the strict disciplinary code in place at the advertising agency firm where she worked as a Senior Account Manager. Acts of general misconduct were recognised with demerit marks, and once ten had been accumulated within a 6-month period, the employee had the option of paying a significant fine or submitting to an alternative punishment, that of a caning. Having amassed ten demerits, Laura is faced with a very difficult decision. Her husband suggests paying the fine but instead Laura decides to accept ten painful strokes of the cane and the accompanying humiliation.

Five years later, Laura faces further disciplinary action after a colleague under her authority makes a serious error on a prestigious account. Confronted with an impossible fine, Laura manages to persuade the Board to allow her to receive the cane once again instead. They agree, but increase the demerits penalty, so that Laura must now receive sixteen strokes, to be delivered in two sessions of eight strokes each, given three days apart.

Shoplifting Woes: Faced with an ever-growing problem with customer theft across their seven retail stores, Bainbridge's Board agrees to set up a working group to tackle the problem. Deciding that police referral is ineffective, they opt to introduce a system where shoplifters are to be given the choice of receiving corporal punishment as an alternative to prosecution. It's not long before eight offenders have been caught and, with witnesses present, prepare to be on the receiving end of a three foot whippy cane...

Fancourt Estate: Following her divorce, Sarah and her younger daughter, Stephanie, move to South Africa from the UK. There they find a wonderful house situated on an upmarket estate and are informed that in order to be accepted they must first sign up to the resident's charter, the primary purpose of which is to reduce anti-social behaviour. Those in breach of the rules are referred to a disciplinary committee who then decide on an appropriate sanction, including the use of corporal punishment. Things go well for a while until a New Year Party gets well out of hand and Sarah and her two daughters find themselves referred to the Disciplinary Panel. The latter decide that Stephanie and her elder sister, Claudia, are to receive the cane but a far worse fate - the South African sjambok - awaits their mother...

Adultery: Sara, the wife of a British diplomat working in the Middle East, is found to be having an affair. Her husband, Ben, is friendly with the Assistant Head of the local police, and based on his suspicions, Sara soon finds herself on a charge which leaves her little choice other than to accept a flogging and the repatriation of her lover.
